Hubert E. Crosby was born July 27, 1902, in Mount Vernon, Washington. He was the son of Nora Garret and George Crosby.

He received his schooling in Mount Vernon and was married to Eleanor VanEvery in 1938. They had two sons, Lloyd and Jay.

In the 1920s, he was the assistant manager of the Empire Theater in Anacortes and worked in the shipyards in Seattle during World War II. After the war he moved his family back to Anacortes and was employed at NAS Whidbey until he retired in 1972.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Hubert passed away on October 21, 1982 and is interred in the Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes.
