Bob Way, Anaco TV, 1968.
Robert Charles Way was born May 23, 1923 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was the son of Leta Tripplett and McKinley Way.
His family moved to Skagit County in 1928 and he graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1941 and later Skagit Valley College after World War II.
He spent most of his life working in retail on Commerical Avenue in Anacortes. Around 1950, he started an appliance business and eventually created a partnership with Cliff Kelly to form Anaco TV and Appliance. Cliff was bought out by Way in 1968 and the business was operated at 8th Street and Commercial. He later converted a service station at 9th and Commercial, which was where the business ran until 1987. After he closed Anaco TV and Appliance, he worked for Lien’s Appliance and later Dave’s Anaco TV and Appliance.
Bob was a past member of Kiwanis and a life member of the Elks Club.
Bob was married four times and had no children of his own but many stepchildren. He married his first wife, Margie Franulovich, in 1950 and they divorced in 1967. His second wife was Colleen Flinn, and they were married from 1968 until her death in 1982. Janice Hendricks was his thirds wife and they married in 1984. She passed away the following year in a tragic drowning accident. His fourth wife was Lucretia “Bobbie” and they married in 1986.
Robert “Bob” passed away on January 23, 2003 in Anacortes, Washington and is interred at Grandview Cemetery in Anacortes, Washington.
