Edna Whitney was born May 8, 1880 in Padilla, Skagit County, Washington. She was the daughter of Nancy Catherine “Kate” Bradley and Reinzi Eugene Whitney.

She grew up in Anacortes and was educated at Bellingham Normal School and the Normal school in Los Angeles. Her father helped dyke much of the land in Padilla.

She taught in Skagit County and at the Columbian School in Anacortes until 1918. From there she joined the staff of the Skagit County auditor, later serving as chief deputy in the county auditor offices. She retired in 1953.

Edna never married but settled in her home with her sister, Arlie Whitney at 32nd and J Ave in Anacortes. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and of Chapter W, PEO Sisterhood.

Edna passed away on December 27, 1957 in Bellingham, Washington and is interred at Fernhill Cemetery.
