Joe Kasch, early ferry family

Joseph Weldon Kasch was born January 25, 1915 in Anacortes, Washington. He was the son of Adelaide Davis and Captain William Kasch.

He received his school in Anacortes and Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1933. And attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.

Joe served in World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers and later worked 47 years in the Washington State Ferry System.

In 1947, he married his first wife, Charlotte Mary Katt, and they had four daughters: Mary, Christine, Teresa, and Kathleen. Charlotte passed away after 25 years of marriage. Joe later married his second wife, Pauline June Bust, in 1988.

He was a member of the Catholic church, the American Legion, and the Eagles.

Joe passed away on June 2, 1999 in Anacortes, Washington and is interred at Grand view Cemetery in Anacortes, Washington.
